Company History

SunGard Public Sector has been providing secure and reliable K-12 student information system, special education management and financial and human resources management software to school districts for over 30 years.

Over the course of our history we have successfully managed through the many technology lifecycles to the innovative, web-based applications we develop today. Our experience combined with our ongoing commitment to research and development, mean our customers can be assured that their investment in our products will benefit them and their schools for years to come.

Major Milestones
  2008 SunGard Pentamation and its PLUS SERIES product line are realigned under SunGard Public Sector.
  2007 Through a partnership with Applix, Inc., a provider of data mining/warehousing tools, SunGard Pentamation integrates ‘out of box’ data analysis cubes with its eSchoolPLUS student information system.
  2006 Introduces Mobile Access Center for eSchoolPLUS which provides secure student information to educators from almost any mobile device with wireless or Internet access, from PDA’s to phones.

Introduces The Work Order System for eCommunityPLUS, a centralized work order entry, routing and tracking system for virtually any type of service.

Begins development of eCommunityPLUS, a web-based community development and land management system for Local Governments.
  2005 eFinancePLUS is certified 100% Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) Compliant

Introduces eFinancePLUS, a web-based financial and human resources management system for Local Governments and K-12 schools

Begins development of eCommunityPLUS, a web-based community development and land management system for Local Governments
  2004 eSchoolPLUS is the first student information system for K-12 schools to be certified Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) version 1.5 compliant

Introduces the new IepPlus, a true web-based Special Education and Medicaid billing system for K-12 schools built from the ground up with 100% web technologies

SunGard Pentamation’s Application Service Provider (ASP) group begins providing a comprehensive application and data backup service for all Plus Series customers
  2003 Announces the availability of eSchoolPLUS, a true web-based student information system built from the ground-up with 100% web technologies

Unveils new Local Government and K-12 Plus Series software suites: FinancePLUS, CommunityPLUS and StudentPLUS, all designed to set the standard for intuitive ease-of-use among Windows-based administrative software systems

StudentPLUS is the first student information system to be certified 100% Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) compliant

Announces support of Microsoft’s SQL Server database for the Plus Series software suites
  2002 Introduces PerformancePLUS, a data warehouse and mining solution designed for analyzing district-wide performance, building data-driven action plans and addressing No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requirements
  2001 Acquires Orion Systems and its Windows-based IepPlus Special Education and Medicaid Billing software suite to expand its integrated family of K-12 student management software

Deploys the first version of the Parent Access Module which allows parents to access their children's demographic, schedule, discipline, grade and attendance information
  2000 Introduction of SunGard Pentamation's web-enabled K-12 and local government suite of applications

Establishes Application Solution Provider (ASP) hosting service to allow K-12 schools and local government agencies to subscribe to and utilize its family of software applications via the Internet\

Unveils e-AccessGOV, its Web community service portal for citizen and contractor access to pay bills, apply for permits and schedule inspections

Announces a strategic alliance with eSchoolMall and Mercury Commerce Solutions to provide e-procurement and e-bidding solutions for K-12 schools and local governments
  1999 Develops the OPEN SERIES Palm Pilot System which allows K-12 school administrators to access student information from hand-held palm pilots

Pentamation becomes a member of the SUNGARD family of companies and continues to operate as an independent entity focusing on K-12 and local government software solutions
  1998 Announces the availability of its OPEN SERIES K-12 and local government software solutions for the NT platform

The Government Systems Group extends its product offering with the acquisition of the Tresun Corporation and its Land Management product suite

Becomes an initial participating member of the Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) initiative serving on the committees that establish the SIF compliance requirements
  1996 Announces its new graphical user interface (GUI) software products for the local government and K-12 markets
  1990 Announces the OPEN SERIES K-12 financial and student administrative software products for the UNIX operating environment
  1986 The Government Systems Group announces the UNIX-based GOVERNMENT RESOURCE SERIES financial and billing applications

The Education Systems Group announces the new LEADERSHIP SERIES K-12 financial and student administrative software
  1974 Pentamation is organized to provide hardware and networking solutions, positioning Pentamation as a true single-source vendor
  1972 Formal entry into K-12 education market by servicing multiple school districts from a single data center

First local government customer, the City of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, who is still a customer today
  1970 Pentamation is founded to assist organizations with the management of their information system needs
